About Dr. Schanzer
PhD., LPC, CCP
Hello! I’m Kay
Thank you for visiting.
I am a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst in private practice with over thirty years of experience. I provide a confidential non-judgmental atmosphere where together we identify your personal goal and what you would like to see change in your life. I realize the courage it takes for most of us to ask for professional therapy, but it has been my experience that good therapy can help you feel more alive in a way that is unique to you.
There are many reasons why you might be seeking help. Understanding ourselves better seem to be reason enough. But for some this decision comes when we are at a particularly difficult moment in life – a death, divorce, loss of a relationship, sadness, depression, loss of passion for life, retirement, sexual concerns and any situation which may constellate strong feelings.
My Qualifications
I am licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and have practiced as a psychotherapist for over 30 years. I am also certified by the New York City National Institute of Psychoanalysis as a Contemporary Psychoanalyst. I also conduct group and individual supervision for therapist as a Certified LPC supervisor.
My doctorate is in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Jungian depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara California. My post doctorate work includes five years of analytical training through IRSJA and four years of analytical training and certification from The National Institute for the Psychotherapies National Training Program in Contemporary Psychoanalysis in New York City. I also have an advanced certification from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Dream Tending.
My master thesis and doctoral dissertation topics were in the subject area of gender issues, healing trauma, women issues and post-traumatic stress syndrome.
In addition to working with individuals, adolescents and couples, I conduct therapy and psycho-educational groups. My educational pursuits have taken me to study in Egypt, Italy, Russia, Greece, Ireland, The C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland and New York City.
