Types Of Therapy

People are unique in what they need, therefore my approach to psychotherapy is multidimensional.

Where do you identify?

Individual Therapy

There are many reasons why we seek individual therapy. You may want to come to a safe place where you can talk about difficulties and problems you are having in your life.

If we are to live into our potential and experience a life that is meaningful to us, we must gain insight into where we feel blocked and what needs to happen to move us closer to our authentic self.

A psychotherapist or psychoanalyst can often help you on this journey.

Couples Therapy

Most of us struggle at some time or other with our relationships. The problems surrounding intimacy is one of the most difficult issues we face in coupling today. When we become disillusioned with each other we usually become passive and aggressively withdraw, or actively aggressive and engage in power struggles with our partners.

Couple therapy can provide an alternative to ending the relationship or staying embattled. A psychotherapist can provide a safe place to process a couple’s relationship when issues arise through dialogue and discovering each others viewpoints.

When we are deeply committed in relationships they can be rewarding experiences for our personal growth and individuation. Working through the problems that arise between you and your partner can deepen your understanding of your partner and the mystery of your own being.

Diversity

I create a therapeutic environment which nourishes diversity and individual differences. Gay, lesbian, bisexual and the transgender community can be assured that they will be treated with the utmost of respect and dignity.

Therapy can be helpful particularly around issues that might manifest around:

        •   Coming Out
        •   Relationships
        •   Family Concerns
        •   Parenting
        •   Self Decision
        •   HIV-Aids
        •   Loss

A safe and trusting relationship with your therapist is essential for you to explore all your feelings. It is important that you find someone who is non- judgmental and that you can allow yourself to be vulnerable with so that your work together will be effective.

Child Therapy

Adolescence can present one of the most difficult periods within a life. Developmentally, great changes within the body occur and emotionally it is a time to examine one’s own separate identity by intensifying relationships with peers. Adolescents often become confused about a sense of a self during this time. Sometimes the uncertainty adolescents experience manifests in behavioral or psychological symptoms.

Typical signs to consider are:

      • Perfectionism
      • Hypersensitivity about one’s body
      • Avoiding school
      • Withdrawn
      • Isolating
      • Irritable/ Mood Swings
      • Irregular eating and sleeping patterns

Therapy can support both parents and/or the adolescents during these difficult times.

Group Therapy

Most of our life is spent in a place of work. In many ways work is our way as humans of expressing our creativity, commitment and innovation. Work is usually a place where we find community with a group of people that ‘get things done.’ In today’s business climate, many people experience work as a place they have to go to. Each day their work becomes less meaningful to them. To those who get their sense of identity from work, the car they drive or the position they occupy, a loss of work can become overwhelming. Many times we do not know ourselves well enough to know what work we would enjoy.

Individuals have found the following subjects useful to explore within a counseling setting:

      •  Exploring ways to make work more soulful
      •  Finding one’s voice in the workplace
      •  How to transition to a different choice of work
      •  Dealing with Retirement
      •  Understanding our own power and vulnerability in the workplace
      •  Knowing ourselves as leaders and followers at work
      •  Discovering our Entrepreneurship
      •  Realizing our full potential within the
        work
